The Cars

Every generation of MOZEE Motorsports car is designed, built, and raced by MSOE students. That work has made the team a three-time World Champion at the Formula Hybrid + Electric competition, with wins in 2017, 2022, and 2024. Most recently the MP7 placed 2nd in the Hybrid Category and took 6th overall in the design competition, beating design scores from Harvard, Yale, and Dartmouth.

MP7 (2024–2026, current competition car)

MP7 hybrid formula race car

The MP7 is the team's current competition car. It pairs a KTM 250 four-stroke engine with a Parker Hannifin drive motor fed by a fully custom accumulator, with regenerative braking on the rear axle recovering energy under deceleration.

MP8 (next generation, in ideation)

The team is beginning ideation and design for the MP8, with manufacturing planned for next school year. The car is still early in the design process, so no specifications have been finalized yet. Check back as the design matures, or join the team and help shape it.

MP6 (2024 World Champion)

MP6 hybrid formula race car

The MP6 won the 2024 Formula Hybrid competition with the most powerful powertrain the team has had. It ran a fully custom transfer case in a rear-engined configuration, and its additively manufactured accumulator was reduced in size by roughly 20% without decreasing performance.

MP5 (2022 World Champion)

MP5 hybrid formula race car

The MP5 was a competition winner built around a single-speed friction drive clutch on its Swissauto 250 internal combustion engine, with the electric motor picking up the low range of the power curve.

MP4 (2017 World Champion)

MP4 hybrid formula race car

The MP4 was a competition winner and the first car, and one of only two overall at the event, to ever finish the complete endurance event. It combined a twin cylinder internal combustion engine with a DC electric motor, was the first MOZEE car to feature carbon fiber body components, and at roughly 720 lbs remains the lightest car the team has built other than the MP7.
